A seed of lemon, cast away
Beneath the earth, in silent sway
Days passed by, and green it rose
A tiny sprout, with tender pose
I overlooked it, in casual glance
Yet it grew, in quiet dance
Branches stretched, leaves fresh and bright
I started caring, through day and night
Insects crept, with unwanted play
I removed them, in protective way
But they'd return, in relentless tide
Others whispered, 'Cut it down, it won't provide'
The tree spoke softly, in woeful tone
'Discard me, I'll never bear fruit alone'
But I replied, 'I seek no yield
I love you for being, your silent shield'
Not for flowers, nor for fruits I keep
The bond I cherish, in my heart does seep
A connection deep, unforeseen and pure
My affection for you, I wish to endure.
