Beyond The Trappings Of Beauty Poem by Raimi Babatunde

Beyond The Trappings Of Beauty

The pride of a lion is his pride
The pride of an Eagle; its wings
But the pride of a woman
Carefully curated is in-between
If only I can engrave my heart therein
I shall become an immortal in a mortal form

Beyond the trappings of beauty
Embodied in a celestial frame
And cast to planet earth
The pride of a man is a child
All I desire is a part of you
A love child, a seal of our love

Let me behold your face in hers
As your voice escapes her lips
Give me a love child
Even though my ring belonged to another
You are my pride, my heartbeat

I cannot say "Yes" twice
But give me an atonement child
I promise to love her forever
Open the gates of Paris
Let me swim in this ocean of love

The precious memories shared
The joys you constantly create
And to a seed that'll outlive us
I celebrate this day
Please, give me a love child
An atonement child
