Bill Samowitz' Birthday Poem by Pleasant Dabbs

Bill Samowitz' Birthday

I want you to know Bill that you're a good man
While other men gripe, you do all that you can
Don't moan and complain, always willing to give-
Your time, aid & succor, so that others might live…

Lives more full of service and of caring for others
Not seeking their own will, but the will of their brothers
A better man I'd be if I took a large sample
Of your faith and devotion, and your worthy example

Now that I've built you up, let's come back down to earth
Talk of fam'ly and friends, of death, life, & birth
Which reminds me, dear friend, today's someone's birthday
Now who it could be? A guessing game we'll play

The back down to earth part, if you want to count numbers
Some count on their hands, some use toothpicks, some lumber
For you Bill it's easy, take a trip to the ocean
And start counting the sand, that's if you've got the notion

No, that was mean and callous, and dastardly, crude
How can I be so pointed, malicious and rude
I'll have to repent Bill, so you'll still treat me kind
These are our birthday wishes…for a big 49

(Or was it 59,69,79? Well it's somewhere around there, but keep it down low!)
