Bill The Sailor Man Poem by Karl Newton

Bill The Sailor Man

Imagine if you will
For a short or long
Moment or two
The tale of
A sailor man
Called Bill

Upon his latest adventures
To discover lands a new
Bob and his ship ran into a problem or two
Which has resulted
In him being washed up, stranded
On a desert island
Just Bob, his dog Fudge and a possession or two

Of his possession
Of which there are few
There lay a book called
‘When stranded on a desert island - What to do'

Bob decided that to read this book, is what he must do
To survive until this ordeal
Until some help came through

Page 1 said to make himself a shelter
So with rope off his boat
And some wood that he found
Bob made the frame of a hut
Which he topped with a spare sail
Now he was safe and sound

Page 2 suggested that Bob should make a fire
For warmth and cooking purposes
So he found more wood
And a stone or two
And soon the flames from the fire soar and flew

Page 3 advised that to survive Bob would need to eat
To eat Bob needed to hunt, so this is what we must do
To make it through
So off to hunt he did go
Through the wilderness sneaking up on pray
Steady and slow
Eventually he caught a rabbit by its toe

The days passed by
Some fast, some rather slow
Bobs hair and beard soon began to grow
He and fudge went unwashed
And their sanity began to go
Did they ever make it off the island?
Will we ever know?
