Bipolar Sky Poem by Ellen Beener

Bipolar Sky

Bipolar Sky

Balmy days once filled blissful skies
Picnic tables and potato salad
Embracing the meadow flowers in song
"I Can't Give You Anything but Love Baby"
After cascading in and through the tranquil night
The moon shined gently into dreams
Of sweet bedtime kisses and fairy tales
Not to last this ambiance of warm milk and honey
Shock waves perpetrated as the horizon blasted through
The sky turned fuming as an enraged wounded tiger
The secret storm of dark ominous clouds rolled over bellowing thunder
And lightning cracked into a million tiny shads
Of cutting boards and furniture flying in a circular slow motion
Over and around unsuspecting gullible branches and twigs
That had no way to run for cover
Only to hunch together in trembling fright
The water did not nourish the loam as it flowed like
Torrents of hell on fragile pedals
That lay askew all broken and withered
Only furthered exposed the roots of fear
Would there ever be a balmy day again
