Blackbird And Other Haikus Poem by Mark. A Heathcote

Blackbird And Other Haikus

momentarily
I sing - a lowly blackbird
then the dawn calls back
*

we bid our farewells
and wander through the shadows
till the wood splinters
*

quietness is a dream
dreamt by only an idle fool
ah - to be a fool
*

oaks are a temple
climb on its heavenly bough
prayers take leaf form
*

magnolia mountains
how they all sea-sway and foam
thier lawns heavenly
*

the willow tree weeps
it's in its mourning shadow
and then a lion's mane
*

I met an old man
chicken farmer - now retired
empty coops - house gone
*

weeds are green once more
summer cools like a bustling
sunday school - child's play
*

Scotland Hall Road
a bus stop on the journey
home - barring others
in my sweet isolation
barking on the phone
*

every wish
is a window - an angel?
playing a harp
*

beguiling snowfall
trembling by the windowsill
ah - Christmas morning...
*

love is a unit
of one with two matching dreams
mittens made for snow
*

love is a story
it's a soft primrose morning
cherished hair lock

snowy wings can't fly
they're all grounded today
let's admire the sky

love is evident
light in the oppressive dark
midnight choirs - hark!
*

little bright violets
they all sing their hearts out
hot ashes still within
*

light is an island
a harbour on a winter's night
candles flicker still
*

I went out yawning
at the archives - the ghosts and-
the thieves with no keys
*

let a falling blue
feather rise like drifting smoke
Illusions at dusk
*

two rivers babbling
one louder than the other
then welcome silence
*

tears of paradise
a spring and a summer drought
deluged by late rains
*

dusty illusions
this hourglass isn't empty
our glass is half full
