Blame Is Temptation Poem by Lynn El Amine

Blame Is Temptation

Don't blame me
For blame is temptation
Blame me again
And I'll be out there
Repeating the same blend

I have my water
And you have your sacred story
My wishes, you desire to slaughter
Though I've never judged you
And your so-called 'Glory'

So leave me alone
Unless you have some water
Then you're welcomed in my home

Get me some more
Get another bottle
We'll drink it together
And read your story
Just before bed time
We'd take a step away from reality
Abandoning the laws of gravity

So you see my friend
How many rules
Water has been able to bend

It could bring back the spirits
You read those sonnets to
Go ahead
Open your book
And have a sip or two

Won't you help yourself in finding what you seek?
It's only some water
Drink it before it starts to leak
Make your wish come true
Brighten your dreams
Have a drink, have two
Find your prophet
As we speak

You'll be reciting the lines
And I'll be losing myself with time
I can't understand a word you say
But it's leading me into a trance
Taking you into a profound haze

And now you can see
Those who were only to be written about
And never to be
Water has sealed the deal
You can see it and it's real

And now you see
How it feels
To be able to live in your dreams
Subconsciously.
