Blessed Assurance - Poem by Michael P. Johnson

How I bless that sweet September
The day my Saviour came
How distinctly I remember
When love consumed my shame

Gladly I gave my heavy load
All filth I cast aside
And now in faith life’s narrow road
I walk with Christ as guide

With peace and joy I live each day
With Heaven’s realm in sight
With love my Lord I now obey
Walking the path of light

The bible’s true! God’s Promise real
Salvation’s on the wing
I have His Word His Holy Seal
I’m heir to Heaven’s King

I’ve seen The Truth I know The Way
God’s made my future known
I’ll live to serve until the day
He calls me to His throne

By grace I’ll meet eternity
Through Christ I’ll never die
His blood has washed has set me free
And paved The Way on high

I’m telling all the folks I meet
Family neighbours and friends
“Come join me at Salvation’s feet
Before your life here ends

Our God is good His Promise sure
He’ll meet your need to stand
He’ll give you strength to all endure
If you’ll just take His hand”
