Blow Out The Candles...Make A Wish Poem by Joe Rivas

Blow Out The Candles...Make A Wish

I blow out the candles for you
Before the wax drips down on the frosting
It’s your birthday today
And the ritual has begun again
I make the cake I set the streamers
And wrap your gift with a bow
All is ready for you here
But you never come home
You haven’t come home in years now
Because this isn’t your home anymore
But I can’t seem to let go
I can’t stop this charade
Because it’s all I know to do
It's all I have left of you
So I sing the song to the empty chair
And I blow out these candles
Wishing wishing wishing
And your still not here
