Bold He Was Poem by Hanna Chaudry

Bold He Was

Bold he was to admit
The gaiety of those purple shoes
Of those minds which resist them
Of those busy sculpturing gold goddesses
Or lost in tempting faces
Or the happy hours of shrinking memory
Bold he was to admit
The feminist soul of those purple shoes
He told me he fantasized them
With red shorts and a petite height
When the crowd dipped in allurement
He slipped his long fingers in old pockets
Bold he was to admit
The apathetic bliss attached to those purple shoes
He told me they made him feel young
Not as light they were, not as dark
But enough to relent his forehead wrinkles
Through his eyes, I surrendered to a purple world..
