Boundary Line Poem by Prasanta Kumar Mahapatra

Boundary Line

Is it a refugee? or a terrorist?

Struggling with unbearable cold,
A bird flies from Siberia to Chilika.
It needs some warmth.

It does not know,
Need not know in fact,
Whether the warmth is
Of Chilika, or Gulbarg or dal!

It does know
What is Russia?
What is India?
What is Afghanistan?
Or What is Pakistan?
it just needs a safe place to live in.

Does a Kingfisher from Chilika
Ever asks a Cranes from Siberia,
About its caste, creed, culture,
Country or religion?

But men ask.
Divides people in the categories of
Nations, religions, faiths, castes....
And many more.
Draws a boundary between them.

If you cross the boundary
You ara a refugee or a terrorist.

How it would be if
There were no boundaries,
no countries,
no castes,
No religions,
No faiths....
No biases! !
And there were only

Human, Human and Human.
