Breathless Poem by Ann Smart

Breathless

I'm a little breathless
Looking at the caresses
Of a mountain gorilla

Just been through the jungle
Bit of a bungle, should be birds
We heard a noise like boys and girls

Ran my hand in my purse for chocolate
Not to eat, you duffers, but to give the kids
What a surprise we ran into the gorillas

They are vegetarians, don't you know
All they want are a few leaves, fruit
So of course the chocolate was mine
