Brick Crusher Poem by Binoy Barman

Brick Crusher

Rating: 5.0

Monster crushes the bones of civility in its roaring jaws
Gripped in God’s powerful paws
In the ever sprawling land
Taking in solid shadows on one hand
Vomiting small pieces of hope on the other
Listen, I tell you, brother
One day the building will be complete
In the real ethereal fleet
To offer a celestial lake-view
To make a safe home for you.

Morning and evening the dry cry dreads the soul
Birds dissuaded from woodland goal
Child leaps from all half-done sleeps
Trembling eyes trembling lips
I am afraid of dream
Bricks are too hard to be ice-cream
Darkness crawls in the musty room
Dust gathers around the thirsty broom
Heedless to nobody
Brick crusher goes on crushing, shady and shoddy.
