Brightcycle Poem by robert ortiz

Brightcycle

Sunny day it was
One day in may
When you said I will.
I was never as happy
As I was that day
Then the day it came.
You told me how you felt.
I took a look in the mirror.
I realize how real it all was.
I stumbled back and slid down the wall.
All those years came rushing back.
A million still pictures.
I can’t tell you where I’ve been
Maybe you can tell me where I’m going.
(Being without a map doesn’t mean I’m lost)
(Only that you are out of sight)
(The well went dry as the sky turned white)
(A rubix cube without a solution)
Talking to you without a heart.
So if I knew where I’ve been.
It would be a whole lot easier.
To find out where I’m going.
So for awhile I’m not going anywhere.
Why should I put myself through this?
So I’ll sit here and think to myself.
Maybe tomorrow will be a sunny day?
