Broken Poem by Mary Rodriguez

Broken

The greatest mysteries on earth can't compare
To the magical love we once shared
It happens when we least expect it to come
Scaring some people so much they run
Love can build you up or break you apart
You can never know this from the start
Cries echo their misery to the moonless night
Desperation lurks when one's consumed with fright
Empty, dark and hollow inside
Does anyone care, if I live or if I die?
The brightness of your love keeps the darkness at bay
How much I pray you'll choose to stay
As high as the mountains and as vast as the sea
I'll always want you here next to me
But wishing and wanting are beyond my control
The more I try, the more I'm losing my hold
The desert is calling in a far away land
It's where I must go to take a stand
I can't bare to hear the sadness in your voice
I must go for now, there's no other choice
Time and distance will not erase
My feelings for you can never be replaced
Life has a cruel reality, we knew this from the start
True lovers always pay the highest price..their hearts.
