Broken And Beautiful Poem by Kristen McCarter McCarter

Broken And Beautiful

Broken and Beautiful
12-16-21
Like her broken glass door
She laid shattered on the floor
Her mind, heart, and soul broken
From hurtful words spoken
Replaying them over and over in her head
She cried, just wishing she was dead,
In her darkest hour
She lost all power
She tried taking her own life
Throwing herself through the door
Using a glass shard as a knife
Cutting herself wanting to exist no more
What once stood tall safe and sound
Now in a million pieces on the ground
There those pieces would stay
Till she found strength one day.
Holding the shattered glass in her hand
She vowed to make a stand
Knowing it couldn't be made whole
She dug deep within her soul
Never again would it be the same
But from the damage, a work of art came
What once was her broken glass door
Is now something beautiful, something more
A reminder she hangs on her wall
To pick yourself up when you fall
She's learning to live again
By finding the beauty within
