Broken Compass Poem by Laurence Overmire

Broken Compass

Rating: 5.0

I took a wrong turn somewhere
I thought I was going in the right direction
But apparently, I have been traveling for so very long
On an uncharted road to nowhere
There are no signposts anymore
No markers
Only an endless stretch of oblivion.

There is no going back now
The road behind has turned to dust
And even the wind can’t find the passage of the years
No, I must move forward
Continue down this forsaken highway
A tumbleweed dream to carry me
Into the sunset, a long cold night

And the breaching of another day.
