Broken Glass Poem by James Faughner

Broken Glass

You’re drunk and alone
in your room
and it all goes away
when there is nothing to question
nothing to beg
when everything seems useless
fragile and frail

like the soul
it's just an idea
most need
to Not get
bats in the bell free

However; in this state
and environment
everything seems perfect
nothing bothers you
annoying like the light
the morning after
or thoughts of dread
like notions of
no soul

Distraction is perfection
ignorance is bliss
and is, the ultimate sickness
Let go of what you do and do not believe
such thoughts are for the shallow end
of Edinboro Lake
Live in what you know
Like when you're drunk and alone.
