Broken Heart Poem by Taiwo Tona

Broken Heart

I regret placing my heart
In your wobbly hands, blinded
By those words of trinity:
"I love you! " words that united
my heart, trust and love to you.

How could I be so stupid to
hold for so long unto those
spindly threads; forlorn hope,
Oh! Ignorant; I fell in love
with you, then our love
rose to the sky- it apex.

Happy by this gratification of love
I rested on you: eyes glued to flowery,
Unaware of crevices that decorated it
Hoping for aesthetic pleasure.

I repose on your cracked part; then
shocked and numb, I fell off
the cliff- the top of our love.

I gained consciousness, but
You were not by my side, you
left me wounded and unwell, without
a farewell you left me broken; lone,
wallowing in tears and regrets.
