broken body
born at birth
twisted spines
drawn up limbs
but hungered
for a thirst
to breath
life’s air
to feel
the warmth
to see
another day
not given
the chance
to make
the choice
or have
the voice
to say
this wasn’t
fair
selfish mother
having fun
drowning
smothering
chocking
the being
living within
when told
to stop
at least
slow down
to think
about that
life
she simply
laughed
now each
is burdened
to a lifetime
of care
one is
giving
the other
receiving
Now….
what is fair
