Broken Promises Poem by philip mtange

Broken Promises

Tis a thought, this one is
Of great moments and fine splendours of life
Of mysteries unsolved
And promises unkept.

Even heaven knew it to be
That this great life would live along just fine
And that we would be together
Till kingdom come.

Every passing moment
Is a reverence of what was
Streamlined with the bleak reality
Of what is
And the shuttered hopes of what could be.

Tis a painful thought, this one is
Of life's promises shattered and broken
Of dreams and aspirations unfulfilled
And life's wanton display of unfettered cruelty.

You promised blissful existence
Fairly tales
Not tumor of misery
And the struggling hold of poverty.

You promised laughter
Not tears
And the wrath of sorrow
And as I wipe the last tear from my eyes
I stand f……………….
And broken.

You promised life
Not death
And the gripping fear of its coming
Broken ………………
That is all I can say.

You promised joy
Not sorrow
And its crippling meander
But I have come to grips
With promises broken
And now I stand destitute
Awaiting my demise.
