Brutally Honest Poem by Daniel I Brown

Brutally Honest

Rating: 5.0

I never took the time to say,
I never even cared…
Once you left and I was here,
Just sitting all alone…
I found the truth I always knew
Of the love you couldn’t show,
Hazy before and deliberately unseen,
I denied my own interests,
I denied my own dreams…
And why?
Just to keep you?
To be at my side?
As a long lasting lover
And a friend to confide,
You’re incapable of either,
You just think of yourself,
Consumed by appearance
And material wealth,
So I’ll stay sitting here,
I’d rather be on my own
Than attempt to spend a lifetime
At the foot of your throne
