Build Your Prison Poem by Berry Hubert

Build Your Prison

Build Your Prison

Stuck in this cell that I built for myself,
I chose wrong not once or the twelfth.
While I'm stuck standing here alone,
burning the flesh from off my bone.
I've no one to blame for the things I chose,
My life was full of highs and many lows.
Now out of my own choices and sins,
What have I got more losses than wins.
I've learned from it now but much to late,
Choices are the prison and lost keys are my fate.
I look up to see those I love repeating my mistakes,
If only I had cared more it's all that it takes.
I guess cause this road was so easy shinny and gold,
I fell for it's glamour while I burn in the cold.
If I am given the chance to right just one wrong,
I will hope that you hear me crying care and be strong.
My hope for you is to be better than me,
So instead of a prison you will get fly free.
It's to late for my screaming you'll tell,
Nobody will ever hear me alone here in Hell.
As you read these words I learned to late,
Hear you make your own prison and sew your own fate.

While my eyes cry tears of blood even though my flesh was burned away,
All of my mistakes and sins so fowl please do not repeat I will pray.

If you still chose the easy road paved with false promises and fools gold,
You will burn here beside me because you bought the lies you were sold.

I hope your golden prison shines brighter than mine,
Because you will be in it forever to the end of all time.
