Burdens Poem by Lexi Koehn

Burdens

The burden is great
Like a dark mass
Pressing against my heart,
The heart that is
Heavy for my friend.
Questions of all sorts
Crowd in my mind.
Questions with no answers.
Fear swirls,
A gnawing pit in my stomach,
Fear for the future.
My flesh is weak,
My spirits are sagging.
How much easier it would be
To just give up on her,
Let her find her own way,
Without my help.
Then a Voice, divine,
Compassionate, compelling,
Like a whisper,
Floats through my soul.
It tells me it is not my worry,
My burden. It never was.
It is His, and His alone.
The only thing I need
To do is pray
And be a friend,
Always kind, loving,
Going the second mile,
Even when it looks hopeless.
Love works miracles.
So believe, and most of all,
LOVE.

I'm glad I have those faithful friends, too. Can't imagine life without 'em! Thanks for the reminder.
