Burned Again Poem by Damilare Tella

Burned Again

I have been burned again
by the same fire
Let these scars remind me:
I was never immune to flame

And When I looked within for comfort
the echoes of silence deafened my ears
I have been burned again
by the fire I mistook for ashes

Hold yourself, oh tender heart
Wounds will close, though scars shall remain
like the sacred scriptures written upon thy skin
guiding thy feet from paths buried in flames
For every scar keeps its testimony
every burn whispers its becoming
until the flame that broke thee becomes the light that leads thee
