Burning The Midnight Oil Poem by Justin Gildow

Burning The Midnight Oil

A long day is going to spill over into the night
Making it a long night

Timese are tough
So I'm burning the midnight oil tonight
I seriously hope that the moon is on my side
As I work into the night
Close to midnight

I look over and I see a coworker of mine
Struggling to get by
Struggling to make ends meet
Struggling to provide for his family
He's joining me tonight
Burning the midnight oil
Whether he likes it or not
Whether he wants to or not

I get back to work
It's going to be a long night
That much I can tell
As I'm burning the midnight oil tonight just the same

I'm burning the midnight oil tonight
But I'm probably not the only one
Not in this day and age
Not in these tough times
