Burying The Past Poem by Tefal Megan

Burying The Past

For the past week, I've learned to let go
Of what I thought I wanted most—
Only to find myself deserted, alone.

I bury myself in work,
Trying to forget,
Because I can't even admit
It was nothing. I felt nothing.

Maybe it was always meant to be this way—
Maybe I was meant to feel this pain,
To suffer in the name of love
That no longer exists.
Not now. Not ever.

It's every man for himself,
And lucky are those who've found it already.

She was mine once,
But now I bury myself in work,
Determined to excel.

I accept my fate,
But I am not defeated.
