Butterfly Poem by Kathrine Philip

Butterfly

Rating: 5.0

The red butterfly flaps overhead,
I lift up my drowsy head
Black lips curl up softly
I see the flowers fall gently

Clueless people can fall in love
Butterflies can and will overcome.
Someday I might be a bride,
But that one thought, makes me cry.

Even the cutest kitten,
Will bite your hand
I’ve had it
I am worried of what you’ll think

I put on my bravest face,
Knowing I am not strong enough
The more I hid my pain
The more I feel ashamed

To be rejected by someone you love
Is worse and cannot be cured by above
Yet when Life decides to grow in you
I ask what will one do.

To see the new smile
To hear the first laugh
It is enough to make you cry
Because you have found your purpose in life

I am not sure why I decided to do this
I am not stronger than I was
Nothing else has changed
But now I am not going to run away

It is important for us to face our fears!
For that’s what really makes us strong!

I look at the chocolate rose,
I expected fear to arise.
But his face has left the picture
I am me my own person.

The red butterfly lands on the rose
Its life transfers into its foe
The red butterfly wings flap into the dark
I send one last black kiss one last red tear.

Hero is dead, his soul lives on
The rose’s petals fall one by one
I stand at the grave
Living in his name…
