Butterfly In Me Poem by Coralie Linton

Butterfly In Me

Butterfly in me is no longer waiting to be wild and free
I have come out of my shell more vulnerable now
till I embrace this new identity
Im learning to use my wings for the first time
To explore what I have not yet seen
I have the acceptance and understanding that I am still changing
My new wings are colourful for all the world to see
They are strong enough to travel the distance
Yet delicate so that I can catch a ride with the breeze
I now can fly to find that flower that's perfect for me
And drink it's sweet nectar that feeds me and gives me new life for eternity
No more inching along the ground waiting to be found
Always looking up and dreaming about flying over the trees
My world is now bigger and full of new adventures
Around every corner
I'm feeling happy and content with my new wings
that are just right for me
