Butterfly Kisses Poem by Danette Frenz

Butterfly Kisses

You are my chrysalis,
A jewel-like crystal kiss.
And I am your caterpillar,
Locked in a wine cellar.

We undergo metamorphosis,
Crawled a leaf then took a risk.
Almost moved from my path,
Seeking shelter from your wrath.

Needed your rigid structure,
Followed instinct and your…
Timing to be right
Before we could take flight.

Needed the right spot,
Then we took a shot
And shed our skin
To you I did cling.

We took a blind chance
And hoped for wings to dance.
We needed to fly,
By and by…
Oh so high…
We could touch the sky.

For a moment our eyes touched,
I loved you so much.
Your dark eyes so deep,
I wish I could keep.

Lashes then fluttered
And you muttered…
Butterfly kisses
My heart does misses-
You!
