By Their Words Poem by Adedokun Abdurrahman

By Their Words

_And they will say:
Let the doom be casted forth,
And day and night be fused as one,
Let the skies be torn apart,
And green leaves, tawny and brown,
They will say:
If the Earth is ground to dust,
Without a chance for a second thought,
At least we lived a life of love,
And that too suffices us,
Or they will say:
Bring forth one, who has gone and come,
To tell stories of life in the *Qabr,
Is it not only this life of ours?
We merilly live and die, and enjoy our time,
But we shall say:
Does it please your gentle soul, That your father leave you home, .
And returns after lots of years,
to ask not about your welfare?
Or about the times, how you spent them?
And by their replies we shall know them.
