Cārvāka Poem by Bipin Churchung Rabha

Cārvāka

Rating: 3.7

There's neither the God nor the heaven
And also neither the hell nor the soul,
God is in neither the church nor mosque
And in neither the mass nor the temple.

There is not the other celestial world
The earth is both the heaven and hell ever,
Be eating, drinking, and making marriage
The rewards are here, earthly life is better.

There's neither pre-existing nor future life
Therefore, there's no soul transmission,
The material world can perceive and exist
Heavenly bliss is a figment of the imagination.

COMMENTS OF THE POEM

The philosophy of Carvaka is diametrically opposite to the philosophy expounded in Bhagawat Gita. When what Carvaka says about God and soul are accepted, the entire Gita philosophy falls apart like a castle of cards…. Nice attempt, dear poet. Top score. Encore

This is quite representative. Charvak philosophy has been around since long. Though it is directly opposed to the philosophy which believes in the existence of God, one must study all philosophical theories whether in Eastern or Western world with an open mind and follow his own path. Thanks for sharing.
