Caged Bird Poem by Smart Omenako

Caged Bird

The windows are open
Inviting the snowflakes in
The fire dwindles and wood turns into ash
The caged bird
Alone downstairs
Shrieks for help
For once can you please shut up
Says the owner upstairs
The windows remain open
The caged bird
Once blue and yellow and beautiful
Now buried under snow
Shrieks no more
The owner sleeps soundly.
