California Beaches By Gio Masserati Poem by Gio Masserati

California Beaches By Gio Masserati

California Beaches

car windows down
rolled down old school with the crank of a turn
music blaring through the speakers
competing with the whooshing wind in my hair

loudly singing some liberating tune of new women's strength
like Shanaia Twain, 10,000 maniacs, Motels, Fine Young Cannibals
the list will go on infinitely
and time stole away in my California beaches

so many new and old dreams
and memories to reminisce about
or love songs we played over and over
love songs
in our hearts in our minds
in our hearts in our minds
playing soundtracks to movies
like Notting Hill, Wedding Singer, My Best Friend's Wedding

I'd say that pretty much any of my life story
would play on a drive-in theater screen
and beyond
to the albums and soundtracks
of my love, dedication and appreciation
of california beaches

giving thanks to the deep vast forgiving waters

I pour my love over it's body
expecting only the joy
of giving my love
to it's opalescent teal blue waters

my California beaches
you have always given freely
to me
to all
