Can I Be Myself Again Poem by Abimbola Olukoju

Can I Be Myself Again

These eyes of mine i can not close again
Seen it all as it unfolds in my world
Haven been shape by the clay around me
World now made me what i am

Wind blows over my being
Not strong enough to blow away my externalities
Jumped in the river of self but can not be washed
Where is the real me, where can i search

I want me back like my day one
When unsinfully pure and crystal clear
Laid down there in the pool
And the whole world rejoice when me behold

Wish my senses I've shut down at day one
Beholding only that which is me and mine
Carefully sculpting my image and me
Growing through ages up to now from one

Lost every me every where i'm found
I want the real me as created real
Now imperfect and now blemished fill
Can I ever have me back like snow and white.
