Can We Poem by Tiernan Booth

Can We

So what's it gonna be?
The problem isn't you I think it's me,
It's classic 'we're not meant to be.'

So don't pretend to care,
don't say that you can't help but stare!
I've gotten over all that now,
the curtain closed,
I took a bow!

Can we just talk as friends,
The way we used to do?
Trust me when I say that I have gotten over you!

I've lost so many friends,
The collection has no end,
I feel like I'm in Never-land,
Calling all the lost boys home,
It's quite the challenge one must know!

I'm not asking for your sympathy,
Not sitting here self-pitying.
I'm just tired of losing!

I'm trying to stop pushing,
Pushing people away,
People I love when I want them to stay,
I want you to stay!

What am I trying to say?
My brain just went a million ways,
Directions that can't be explained.
Will the world stand still for just one day?
I gotta catch up but there's just no way!
