Can You Feel? Poem by Ashley Carlisle

Can You Feel?

Can you feel my pain?
Can you feel me crying as I look at your picture?
My eyes looking at you while you stare at me with the eyes that used to comfort me daily.
Can you feel me lying on my bed, wishing you were here?
My eyes looking at the stars wishing for something that I shouldn't
deserve.
Can you feel my soul slowly breaking into tiny pieces?
Something that was once whole as a piece of glass, now slowly falling to the ground breaking into shards of the past and the hopeful future.
Can you feel me looking into the sky searching for you?
My wishes and prayers going unanswered.
Can you feel me thinking about you?
Wondering if you're thinking about me and not her?
Can you feel my heart turn black as night as time slowly turns
against me?
Can you feel my tears gently run down my cheeks as I hold your jacket close to me, trying to feel you?
Trying to hold my heart and soul together with things that you gave me and the thoughts that we shared.
Can you feel my eyes turn blood red as I cry for you?
My eyes growing tired from the cries that come from me.
Can you feel my soul slowly die without you?
Slowly losing life as I realize that you and I can never be.
Can you feel me lying in my bed dreaming about the good times we had?
Memories tormenting me.
Can you feel my smile hide the frown that I truly feel?
Can you feel me act as if everything is ok when I'm really falling to pieces?
Can you?
