Can You See The Light? Poem by james manning

Can You See The Light?

Rating: 4.0

You walk down the road to the tunnel leaving us behind,
You see no one follow because this is only your road to follow.
The light disperses away and the darkness lurks closer,
Can you see the light at the end of the tunnel? Can you see the light?

Walking further into the tunnel you hit a wall,
You realize that the wall is your fear bricked up.
It’s rock solid and is staying there, because it knows what lurks around the corner,
Can you see the light at the end of the tunnel? Can you see the light?

It gets darker and your fear rises following you close,
You hear the echo of footsteps and you move faster.
Everything you ever feared, and still fear coming for you down this tunnel,
Can you see the light at the end of the tunnel? Can you see the light?

Fear now holds you it’s tightening its grasp on you and it’s never going to let go,
But you hear a child’s voice calling out your name.
Fear loses its grasp on you and you slip away, moving closer towards the voice that saved you today.
But the tunnel caves in on you and you lose your chance today.

Can you see the light at the end of the tunnel? ... Can you see the light?
