Capture Poem by Lauren Harper

Capture

Foggy breaths of exasperation leave the carbon based life form.
Each breathless consumption of oxygen fails to satisfy her lungs.
In the folds of sheets she put up a fight.
Sweat beads at the nape of her neck.
Her mouth opens to scream but sound evades her vocal cords.
Fingernails abusively kiss her palms red.
The words help catches in her throat, unmoving.
Hands firmly take hold of her body clawing into her skin.
Desperate fingers reach to free her body from this unknown figure.
Eyes burst open looking for her attacher only to find herself all alone in the middle of the night once again.
