Care For My Lovely Lovely Mom Poem by Annie Ellis

Care For My Lovely Lovely Mom

Rating: 5.0

Please ask ‘me' if I take sugar
Please be patient I'm slower to respond
Please care for me I haven't always been this way
Please direct me when I forget
Please enhance my life it's in your hands right now
Please face me when you speak my hearing sometimes fails
Please give to me I ‘am' grateful for your help
Please hold me close I'm afraid
Please imagine me in my days (I was once young and free)
Please jabber with me it cheers me up
Please know me just take a little time
Please like me or at least try
Please make sense I'm confused
Please never hurt me this is my home
Please observe me I might fall
Please pay me a compliment it makes me feel special
Please quench my thirst it renews my energy
Please remember I'm someone's ‘mother'
Please smile & say kind words to me it's free
Please touch me gently I feel a lot of pain
Please Understand I'm trying my best
Please Value my feelings I still have them you know
Please wait for me to finish I can't hurry these days
Please Xchange my glances it makes a difference
Please yell at me "never" it makes me cry
Please zzzzz sleep in peace at night and know you've done a good job X
My trust is in you for my lovely lovely mom! ! ! !

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
This poem is dedicated to the care of my mom who is living in a nursing home and this is how I want the carers to care for and respect her. This is not the way she has always been and she's still my mom who I love dearly. It didn't take me very long to write this down and I cried buckets afterwards but now I feel empowered and able to carry on!
