Careless Drawings Poem by Ethyl CCC

Careless Drawings

A crumpled paper
from a lonely corner
Got softly blown by the wind
Away it goes
like a troubled ghost
haunting me.
There's something in it
That I must know...

I grasped for it
through the chilly wind
And unfolding it
I could see-
nothing
but crooked lines,
distorted shapes
like careless drawings
of an unknown artist.

Yet something in it
evokes sorrow
keeping my spirits low.
Whoever scribbled those careless drawings
Whatever made him do so
I need to know.

Could he be someone
who finds life a bore?
Scribbling and scribbling
till weary hands went sore?

Or a tired loner needing a friend?
Wayward fingers closing around a pen,
not knowing to whom
such piece of work be sent?

Could he be someone
who keeps a dark secret?
Lazily drawing mysterious sketches
Someone who isn't very bold
to speak nor write of phrases
best left untold?

Or someone who finds
solace in a pen
Drawing aimlessly
till a broken heart mend?

The careless drawings
on a crumpled paper
Slipped out of my hand
softly blown by the wind.
Away it went
like a troubled ghost
still haunting me.
Whoever scribbled
those careless drawings
Whatever made him do so
There's no way to know....
