Caribbean Creatures Poem by Elayne Ogbeta

Caribbean Creatures

Mosquitoes jump
Mosquitoes bite
Like little vampires
In the night

Lizards smart
Lizards slick
Like an athlete
Sprinting quick

Crickets chirp
Crickets sing
Silent musicians
Flapping wings

Bumblebees buzz
Bumblebees whizz
Busy weavers
They dance and fizz

Butterflies flutter
Butterflies glide
Like a ballerina
Painting the sky

Grasshoppers leap
Grasshoppers stride
Spring time acrobats
In meadows wide

Ants march swift
Ants prepare
United soldiers
Everywhere

Moths dance light
Moths glide strong
Night's silent artists
In twilight's song

Dragonflies dart
Dragonflies grace
Aerial gymnasts
In their tranquil space

Beetles crawl
Beatles fight
Like armoured tanks
In the moon's soft light

Cockroaches sneak
Cockroaches slide
Like secret spies
In darkness they hide

Ladybugs dive
Ladybugs sore
Tiny aviators
A world to explore
