Carlos Poem by Cierra Calvano

Carlos

Memories hold me down
Naked and afraid
In memories I drown
Manipulation of the cruelest
Danger and pain come sundown

I loved him, I truly believed
HIs affections all a charade
Too much pain i received
In name of his lust
For my innocence I grieved

I wished he was dead
My legs he splayed
Blood on a bedspread
I never did mistrust
Until the day I fled

I fear how I missed the abuse
Drawn to pain, let it pervade
My body his hands bruise
His words the crudest
Looking for any excuse
In these haunted memories
