Casa Blanca's Surprises Poem by Tor Magnor Solvang

Casa Blanca's Surprises

A land of many, strong and free,
United States, that's what we see.
No plans to change the name they bear,
No president, no one to share.

'America, ' a traveler's prize,
From Vespucci, it did arise.
A thought, a joke, a passing gleam,
To change the name, a distant dream.

From Casa Blanca, yet no decree,
No shift in name for all to see.
The USA, may stay the same,
Till a leader wants his given name.

No law is made, no vote is cast,
The name will likely always last.
What might they say, from halls of power?
We wait and see, hour by hour.
