Catharsis Poem by B. V. Dahlen

Catharsis

Why have you left me?
You were supposed to always be there
strong and tall protecting me.
Now the winds blow cold
and my shelter is in ruins.
I shiver exposed to the gale.
No harbor in sight.
I don’t want to be here,
alone in these frigid shadows.
I miss you here with me.
Your guiding hand
and ready smile
have dwindled into memories
that I curse and cherish
concurrently.
