Chained. - Poem by Graham Jones

Why is it life can be so cruel
To those who use it as a rule
To measure time in such a way
To stifle those who have their say
Then flay the flesh down to the bone
Of those who wish they could atone
For actions now or in the past
That shackle them within a cast
Displayed upon the winds of time
For all to see this life of mine
A soul wrapped up in endless chains
Each link a symbol of my pain.
