Chained Wings Poem by rebecca hyer

Chained Wings

Rating: 3.0

Chains have me bound
love and happiness cant be found
shackles hold me tight
no matter how hard i fight
i have held on to pain and fear
my heart is held captive here
no beacon to shine there light
or take my hand and guide me through the night
im a prisoner cant you see
my soul is not set free
fear holds the door that locks me in
i fight to let go and cant win
i have wings but cant fly
even if i try
for i would surely fall
and lose it all
locks and shackles protect me
its so hard to give my hearts key
because if i did i would be hurt and the pain would begin
and i would have to beg for the chains again
