Chances Poem by Jared Bradford

Chances

Never thought I'd be thinking
About how fast time has fast
Just sitting up at night
Wishing this moment could last

Wishing I could just freeze time
And stay in the moment right here
But I just keep going
Hoping a better moment is near

And as I think back on my life
I see all my mistakes
All the chances I had-
Not one did I take

Those chances passed me by
The opportunities dead and gone
If I had to list them all
This rhyme would be too long

And all my friends and family
Who were always there for me
Through grief and through joy
And when I didn't want them to be

To people who took shots at me
Who tore straight to my core
Who hurt me so bad
My heart turned to sore

But the couldn't touch me
My heart, ok they may
But they'll never hit my spirit
Cause I still stand to this day

Then think about ways people changed
And how change came to be
How they tried to change me
But I am still just me

Yet those missed chances fly by
They won't leave my memory
Like those chances, I want to fly
I want to fly and be free

But I'm not going to miss this one
No, not this chance too,
Cause I don't want to regret
Not saying, 'I truly love you'
