Change Poem by Mary Rodriguez

Change

Things change and it's hard to understand why?
Stirring up emotions that seem to amplify
Tired of the way things have been
Continually running things over in my head
Feeling doubt and losing faith
Hope now feels like wraith
Heavy thoughts burn deep in my soul
Struggling to keep things under control
Remembering when you was mine
Assuring you'd love me as our hearts entwined
A greater love I could never find
I wonder how often do I cross your mind?
Your silence leaves me alone and confused
It will always be you who I choose
Your eyes they shine so bright
They brought me out of darkness and into the light
Tragedies make us who we are
Embedding us with emotional scars
My memories haunt me and consume
Leaving my heart bleeding like an open wound
The magic is to find beauty, where once there was pain
It's hard because we think with both our heart and brain
Releasing my heartache, releasing my pain
Understanding true love is not in vain
Writing my poems in hopes of touching a few
To the rest, I bid a faire adieu
