Chant - Poem by Anthony Degilio

People sing in joy,
This time of year,
Children play with toys,
The rest chant and cheer.
I sit alone,
Myself as a guest,
The melancholy tone,
My patience you test.
Spirits of dark,
The shadows of past,
Take my cursed mark,
May death come fast.
